On my recent WSET 2 course we must have covered about 40-50 of the main grape varieties used to make wine. My poor little head was spinning with all the information.
However this was nothing, because apparently there are over 10,000 wine making grape varieties
10,000!
Can you imagine it! It would take several lifetimes to try them all. Perhaps it would be best to start small and work up. So here is winefolly.com’s list of 52 of the main wine grape varieties:
