Spain was the country that exported the most amount of wine in 2018 at prices significantly lower than anywhere else. This is causing some problems in the industry and needs to be addressed. However as a wine drinker I have to admit I like the low prices. 😁😁 Click on image to see full article … Continue reading Spain’s 2018 Wine Exports

Albae Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
The second red wine of the Bodega Albae wine tasting at TomeVinos Barrio Salamanca. This time made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and matured in French oak barrels for 6 months. A medium purple colour with a light scent of berries and some wood. Interestingly it has lower tannins than the Merlot. Usually it's the other … Continue reading Albae Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Albae Merlot Crianza 2015
The first red wine of the Bodega Albae wine tasting at TomeVinos Barrio Salamanca. This is made from 100% Merlot and is matured in French oak barrels for 6 months. According to the representative from Bodeg Albae it is difficult to work with this grape in Castilla La Mancha due to the heat which produces … Continue reading Albae Merlot Crianza 2015
Albae Chardonnay
The second wine of the Bodega Albae wine tasting at TomeVinos Barrio Salamanca. This is the other white wine this time made from 100% Chardonnay. A light lemon green colour, it has a medium nose that reminds me of the pear drop sweets. So think sweet pear, slightly tropical. Very little acidity in the scent … Continue reading Albae Chardonnay
Wine Train to Vallodolid
Vallodolid is slap bang in the middle of several of Spain’s key wine regions. Each year they put on a train doing day trips to this area from Madrid so the Madrid residents can enjoy the region’s rich wine selection. The next train is tomorrow but they also have dates in May and June.
Albae Viognier 2018
The first of the Bodega Albae wine tasting at TomeVinos Barrio Salamanca. This is one of two white wines available made from 100% Viogner. The Viogner grape is known for producing perfumed wines. This is also true of the more commonly used Spanish grape variety Viura/Macabeu. So it's a shame that Bodega Albae don't produce … Continue reading Albae Viognier 2018
Bodega Albae
I was introduced to Bodega Albae at a thoroughly enjoyable wine tasting at Tomevinos in Barrio Salamanca in Madrid. This winery is dedicated to experimenting with grape varieties to see what works well in their region of Castilla La Mancha. Castilla La Mancha is the most prolific wine producing region in Spain, if not the … Continue reading Bodega Albae
Keeping The Grapes Warm
So whilst I’ve been enjoying the sun on my trip to the UK. I believe the Easter weather in Spain has not been so good (freaky but true - it’s a world gone mad). So whilst you’re having an obligatory moan about the cold think of the poor grapevines coping with a late frost in … Continue reading Keeping The Grapes Warm
Canto 5 Blanco
The final offering from the Bodega Diez Siglos one tasting at Vinopremier.com. This is not so much a wine as a Mosto. Basically in between a wine and grape juice. It has only 5.5% alcohol, is sweet and has a natural fizz to it. The fermentation process is cut short so that not all the … Continue reading Canto 5 Blanco
