The third wine on offer from Bodegas Sobreño in the D.O. Toro at the vinopremier.com wine tasting. This is their Reserva red wine made from 100% Tinto de Toro (a Tempranillo clone) and aged in American oak for 14 months with an additional minimum ageing of 12 months in the bottle.
This was by far the groups favourite. It is a clear, medium/light Purple red colour with a lovely fruity scent of dark berries plus some wood. A dry wine with medium tannins, good body and a lingering finish.
The tannin levels were a little high for me so I struggled get all the flavours, but the rest of the group enjoyed bubbling black currants with smokey burnt wood flavours and a fruity finish. Lucky them!
