A young red wine blend of Monastrell and Syrah blended to represent the Mother:
This Monastrell-Syrah wine from the collection stands for the simplicity personified in Rosana Madrid Romero, the second generation of the family. Its expressive and intense character makes it perfect to share with friends on any occasion.
These are two grape varieties that I struggle with as they tend to produce more robust, spicy, tannic reds which overwhelm my tastebuds. I tend more towards fruit led red wines. But I’m always up for a go.
This is a pale purple red wine with a spicy vegetal scent. I got very little fruit. However on tasting there were a mix of red and black berries including black currant and mybe hints of blueberry. It was as promised slightly spicy with medium tannins, so I got the usual sourness.
Having said that it wasn’t an overly heavy wine and I was able to drink it no problem. This is saying something as I have been known to pour Monastrell wines down the sink as too bitter and rough for me.
Basically it is not bad for a Monastrell and if you like your wines fruity with some spice then give it a go.
