The final wine of the Eat Out Madrid Wine Tasting and the most expensive if the evening at 87€. This wine has very strong reviews from various wine experts though strictly speaking we should have been trying the 2014 or 2015.
This is a 100% Tempranillo wine aged for 18 months in barrels of new french oak from vines planted in 1975.
it has an intense purple colour with a nice scent of black currants, red berries and some spice. I didn’t get the oaky tones.
A dry red with good body and a long finish. Unfortunately it is high in tannins so a complete waste of time for my taste buds who refused to pick up anything beyond tannin and spice.
The rest of the group really loved this wine though. It was definitely their favourite. So if you can afford it and like full bodied tannic reds then give it a go.
