Viña real is one of a number of Bodegas under the Campañia Vinicola de Norte de España Group more usually known as CVNE. This particular bodega is based in the Alavesa part of Rioja and the mid range wines it produces are apparently aimed at the younger marker. There are six wines produced under the Viña Real brand. Four reds: Crianza, Reserva, Gran Reserva and Pago; a Rose; and this White Wine.
It is made from 100% Viura grape and is fermented in new American Oak barrels and then left on the lees for a period of time. According to the gentleman at the Bodega it is designed to be a young affordable wine but less fruity with more body than their basic range: Cune.
It has a pale yellow colour with a fairly pronounced scent both aromatic and fruity: the sweeter white fruits such as pear, red apples and ripe green grapes. It also has a citrusy scent to it.
A dry white wine with medium acidity and some body to it plus a decent finish. This is a lovely textured wine whih is silky smooth in the mouth and covers your tongue whilst remaining very refreshing. It has a very light fruit flavour but it lingers in the mouth. All in all very nice.
