A second night in the wine bar at Lake Bled and I decided it was time to tackle some of Slovenia’s red wines. To give myself a baseline I started with the grapes I already know and what could be more well known than Cabernet Sauvignon.
This wine is from the Goriska Brda region in the West which I later found out is where the more full bodied red wines come from. Though this young red is not one of them.
This wine is a light purple colour with a light to medium intensity scent. It has a nice fruity aroma of black fruit and some wood.
A dry wine, not overly tannic about medium and also medium acidity. The black fruit flavours come through nicely. It has a bit of a finish and a light body.
This is not a particularly complex wine but it is very drinkable. A good fruity young wine perfect for a warm evening sat by the lake.
