This is a completely new style of wine for me: not red, white or rose but Orange wine. Yes you heard me correctly ‘orange wine’. Sometimes also known as Amber wine. It’s apparently a speciality of this region.
The grapes for this wine are hand picked and juiced then the skins are mixed back in and left for five days.
As promised this wine is an amber going towards pink colour. It has a strong scent of apple and yeast. A dry wine with serious body and a long finish. Some tannins and medium acidity, it tastes of of over ripe orchard fruit and yeast with a slight bitter tang.
I enjoyed this wine, the refreshing white fruit flavours of a white wine with the body and depth of a red wine. Very nice.
