The second white wine from the Bodega Cuatro Rayas tasting at Vinopremier.com. Another Rueda Verdejo Wine but this time with grapes harvested from vines over 100 years old and left on the lees for about 5 months. It is made using more traditional methods and only a limited number of bottles are produced.
Like the previous wine this has a very pale colour with a light scent of creamy oil with some crisp minerality. The guys showcasing this wine seem to think it had a stronger scent than I was getting. I was getting over the last vestiges of a cold which might have been effecting my sense of smell.
A dry wine with medium body and a crisp clean finish. The acidity is more balanced in this wine making it a smoother experience. Again I didn’t get the yeasty taste of lees but this wine has more body to it. It is quite a pleasant drinking experience more for it’s texture and crispness than for flavour. A nice palate cleanser.
A good wine.
