Yesterday we posted a wine tasting of a red from Arribes del Duero. This Denominación de Origin is in Castilla Leon along the Duero river on the border with Portugal. It is known for its local grapes which are rarely seen elsewhere, namely: Juan García, Bruñal and Rufete.
This is not a DO that I know much about and the grapes are completely new to me. Fortunately Wine-Searcher came to my rescue with this article on the Juan García grape which discusses the Arribes del Duero DO and gives links to the other two grapes.
I think this grape has potential for me as it is very aromatic and I usually like that. Unfortunately yesterday’s wine didn’t live up to that potential so I just have to try some others.
