In honour of yesterday’s wine tasting here is an article on the Malvar grape. I had not realised that it was indigenous to the Madrid region. However I do agree about the fact that these wines are on,y just coming up to standard. At wine festivals in Madrid the focus has usually been on the reds. The whites, which are a mixture of Airén and Malvar, have traditionally been the poorer cousins and quite bland. But yesterday’s wine was a good one so time to pay this grape more attention.
