The fourth and only red wine at the Volcanic Experience winetasting at VinoPremier featuring wines from the Tajinaste Viñedos y Bodega in the Canary Islands.
Made from the grapes Listán Negro and Vijariego Negro. Aged for 9 months in oak barrels and a further 2 years in bottle.
A pale Spanish purple colour with a medium plus scent that comes across as very creamy with some black fruit.
A dry wine with noticeable tannins and medium acidity. A light to medium body and short finish.
Unfortunately the tannin/acid level was enough to give me the sour taste I get from this combination. It also had bitter finish like burnt wood. There is fruit underneath I’m sure but I struggle to get it. But I did get the creamy wood flavour.
Balance the tannins a bit more and I might have enjoyed this wine.
