Boğazkere and Öküzgözü are classic Turkish grapes which are often blended together in local red wines.
Boğazkere apparently translates as throat burner because it produces highly tannic bitter wines. Öküzgözü on the other hand is known for fruity floral flavours and high acidity. The two blended together can produce full bodied fruity reds that age well. Hence why they’re often paired.
Below is wine-searcher take on these grapes and also individual notes from winesofturkey.org which also tells you how to pronounce these grape varieties. Useful because I haven’t a clue how to say them.
