This is a wine I drank during the first Covid lockdown last year during an online winetasting with Madrid & Darracott. It’s from a new area for me: DO Montilla-Moriles which covers the area South of Córdoba.
As you’d expect from an area so close to Sherry country, this wine is made of the same grape: 100% pedro ximinez. However this is not a fortified wine, it is a dry wine made in the usual way.
A pale lemon colour with a light scent of sweet fruits, some floral and a hint of lemon.
Although this is a dry wine it comes across sweeter due to its fruitiness. It has a lovely flavour if fresh figs. Then the acidity kicks in with refreshing lemon.
A light refreshing fruity wine with a short finish. Perfect for the hot summers in Cordoba.
