This is the first wine in the Madrid & Darracott Summer Wines tasting. A white wine from the Penedès region in Cataluña. It is made from a blend of the same grapes used in Cava plus a couple of others thrown in for good measure and it’s organic.
Yellow in colour it smells almost sweet, though it’s a dry wine, with strong fruity scents. There’s also some mineral in there. Some of the others got herby tones but I didn’t.
This wine goes down very easily, it is dry but relatively low acidity and very fruit forward so seems sweet. Ripe pear and white fruits. The mineral hints give it almost a fizz taste and stops it from being sickly.
It’s a simple wine But I loved it. Perfect for summer.
