Malvasía de Sitges

Yesterday’s white wine from Finca Can Feixes included a grape called Malvasía de Sitges. Malvasía is a white wine grape grown here in Spain and know for producing sweet wines. Sitges is a pretty coastal town south of Barcelona. The question in my mind is whether this is a standard Malvasía Grape or some strange local variety.

The answer is the former but Malvasía de Sitges has a fascinating history and without it this grape variety could have died out in Spain.
