The second wine from the Madrid & Darracott summer wines tasting this is Spain’s classic summer white: an Albariño from Rias Baixas in Galicia.
It’s a rare Spanish wine drinker who hasn’t tried an Albariño and rightly so as they’re great wines. This particular bodega only produces two wines both made from Albariño.
It has a pale yellow to straw colour with the classic citrus scent along with hints of tropical fruit and some fresh herbs.
It is a light, acidic dry white wine where the lemon, fruit and herb flavours come through with a slightly lingering finish.
A good Albariño but not my favourite. I like them a bit crisper.
