I love Godello wines, and I don’t think I’ve tried one from Monterrei before, so when I saw this bottle in my friend’s kitchen she was under strict instructions not to open it unless I was there. Fortunately she humoured me because it is a delicious wine and everything I look for in a Godello.
A dry white wine it has the fruity floral flavours that I love: think hints of ripe pear or peach. It is not high in acidity but has fresh herb flavours that make it very refreshing on the palate. This is a super smooth well balanced wine that goes down a treat.
It is made by Martin Codax a bodega that also does a rather nice Alboriño that I like. Fortunately it is stocked by a number of wine shops in Madrid and at less than 7€ I will be stocking up.
