The third wine at the Madrid & Darracott story telling tasting. A red wine blend from the Navarra region Cabernet Sauvignon with small amounts of Tempranillo and Graciano. The winemaker wanted to make a true Cabernet Sauvignon in the style of Bordeaux. This wine has spent some time in French Oak.
Couldn’t tell the colour in the reduced light but it had a medium strong scent with earthy buttery tones underlaid with red berries underneath.
A dry wine with medium tannins and acidity, the earth tones come through in the flavour along with a slight tangy spice and a bit of raw veg as well.
An interesting wine with a good variety of flavour. Very different to most Spanish reds which favour the fruit flavours. If you like your earthy reds then this is worth a go.
