Another white wine from the Madrid & Darracott Cheese and Wine Tasting. This time a Semi sweet Verdejo from Rueda.
Verdejo whites from Rueda are one of the most drunk wines in Madrid. They’re usually dry, acidic and fruity. My go to white wine from the supermarket is the Sanz Clásico, so whilst I’m not a fan of sweet wines I felt this one was worth a go.
Pale green yellow colour with a light scent. More grape and white fruit than the Clásico with some underlying mineral.
The high acidity of Verdejo lends itself well to this wine as it counteracts the sweetness giving a more refreshing wine. Medium body with a lingering finish this has grape/white fruit flavour.
I don’t like sweeter wines but this is one of the better ones.
