Tried at a red wine tasting at my favourite Italian wine bar in Madrud, DOC Enoteca Italia, this is an entry level chianti. A Young unmatured wine made from Sangiovese 90% , Merlot 5%,
Canaiolo 5%
Pale ruby purple. Definite red tones.
Quite a light scent. Earthy, some red fruit.
Dry, light body. Refreshing finish. High tannins dries the roof of the mouth. High Acidity sufficient to produce liquid under the tongue. Definitely the earthy spicy flavour of tannic wines but not rough or overwhelming. I’ve always had problems with chianti wine due to the tannins. maybe I’m getting better as I can drink this though I wouldn’t seek it out.
He describes it as a table wine for food. I’d agree
